Service Warning Light at 10 Miles In

Has anyone tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reattaching it? MAYBE that will reset the service indicator. I expect that the date and time will need to be re-entered.

My free advice is wait until you've time to waste to try this.

From page 29 of the manual. Since it's not a mileage issue, I'm thinking it's a date issue. Have them reset it, that'd drive me bonkers.

I won't be surprised if you aren't correct. But it's worth a try. It does work with some automobiles.

For what it's worth, the dealer called me back after speaking with Germany about not being able to re-set my service indicator. Their recommendation? Disconnect the battery, reconnect it, and do a "full factory reset" whatever that means. Whatever, I popped by on the way home, the dealer did it, and it worked.

So I came here because I got the Service Warning after disconnecting the battery..
I wanted to install a SAE connector for a trickle charger, found the battery compartment full of road debris from the rear wheel, so I left the battery out until the following day. When reconnected, it threw this Service warning which I can't get rid of.

I purchased a new 2021 first edition Friday. Two miles into my ride home the Service Warning light appeared. I immediately returned to the dealership. After some looking the mechanic said it is the service warning light and all is fine. I am confused why the warning light would appear at 10 miles when the first service is due at 600 miles. I find it strange to have a warning light on continually like this and the bike is ok. Please help with any information on this.

Please note that the manual states "if service is due within 700 miles..." And 10 miles certainly puts you within 700 miles. Also, the "mileage to service" indicated will decrease in increments of 100 as you approach 600 miles. The yellow warning light will illuminate when you hit 600 miles. The dealership must reset the service warning, unless you have a compatible code reader. That is how it unfolded on my new R18.
