There have not been many reported cases of oil leaks associated with the final drive. Glad for that except I have the leak. Is it possible that a very slight weep could appear worse than it is do to the thin film nature of the tiger stripes?

Could sudden temperature changes cause this problem? If the service tech over filled at the 600 mile service, would a gradual leak eventually stop itself?

I drove 70 miles Saturday after cleaning the bike. Got home and had to clean the right side of the wheel. This is a pain in the arse.

There’s already a thread on this on the forum, it’s been discussed at great length. It’s probably/possibly assembly paste and nothing to worry about, just wipe it off and monitor. Long high speed rides (80mph ish) on hot days seem to trigger the phenomenon (this happened to me once exactly under these circumstances and it’s never happened again). If it’s gear oil from the final drive it will have a heavy smell to it and of course feel that way rubbed between your finger tips.

believe your eyes see above post. This bike is at 5000 miles, still think it's assembly lube? Mine doesn't leak until good and warmed up making me think the breather valve is at fault.thumbnail (48).webp
