R18 Anniversary Edition
I dropped off the R18 at the nearest dealer (180 miles). Got the reverse recall fixed AND final drive oil leak repaired!

On both trips I rode on an interstate highway where everyone was traveling 80 mph or above. The posted speed limit was 75 of course.

I have never pushed my R18 very hard (partly cause of my age) but decided this time to take it up to 3,200 rpm in 6th so as to pass the cage speeders. Well I'll be dipped in porridge.

This R18 just zoomed and the vibe was much less than I expected. The floor boards settled down with a tiny bit of vibe at the grips. With grip puppies and heavy riding gloves I felt terrific.

Before you start laughing at the thought of someone never throttling up to 3,000 rpm, I have always operated the bike between 1,800 and 2,500 rpm. At 68 years I don't need 3,000 rpm in 2nd gear if you know what I mean.

Anyway, I'm a happy camper with my R18.

Just keep in mind, boxers like revs. They like to be run at higher RPM and it’s good for their longevity. I’ve used my 6th gear about three times on this bike. As you’ve noticed the R18 has no problems with loping along at 85. Interesting though… at 3200 in 6th gear thats about 100 mph for me :-)
