What did you do to your R18 today?

I’m removing a whole bunch of bolts off my bike after my ride today and giving to my powder coater on Monday. They are going to be gloss black (it will cost me about $20 at the most, as they are my clients).
I’m not removing and frame bolts… I’m not that silly.
Pics when done.

Ended up removing 22 various bolts from the bike…. Looking forward to seeing the subtle differences.

Got the TC Windshield installed... I like the extra protection and it has cured most of the buffeting on top of my helmet. I haven't decided if I like the look yet . Maybe it'll grow on me once I take a long trip with it.
Lowers will be going on this weenend.

I like the look of the Stock height as well. I ordered an extra set of grommets and washers so that swapping them out will be a 2 minute job. I'm thinking I'm swapping back to the stock height during the summer.

Ebay, here's the link to the one I got. Shipping was pretty quick and had no issues with it. The seller was very responsive to my questions about size. Only disclosure I'd offer is it does have a light smoke tint to it. Hasn't really been a problem for me though. I though I would have a problem with it at night, but it's been fine.

That is a Chinese windshield - same as sold on Aliexpress. Curious as to your opinion of the quality of it. These are made of acrylic not polycarbonate as the OEM windshield. Much easier to crack and fracture.

I have no complaints on it, other than the tint. The quality/fit/finish are all top notch. It has worked as expected. As far as poly vs acrylic, we'll have to wait and see what happens if/when a rock hits it, but it's not something I'm going to worry about. I completely understood what the risk was going in, the whole dealing with Chinese vendors/quality bit, but at $140 vs almost $700 for the OEM It's a risk I was willing to take. I've been very happy with the entire experience, including the actual product. I chose Ebay as the source as I've dealt with them before and I like having a recourse for any issues that may come from dealing with foreign vendors.

Ok, I got impatient. Lowers and rack installed. I'm really liking the trunk and lowers black. I think I'm going to leave them like that for a bit. Took her to work this morning and man what ride!. Now I understand. This was the first time i've enjoyed the ride enough because I had zero buffeting. Rode with faceshield up and all. Me Gusta .

I think it was a combination of the lowers, the side fairings, and the taller shield that finally stopped it entirely. The first thing I added were the side fairings, https://ebay.us/m/dczgwz
These alone stopped the majority of the abuse I was getting from the wind coming at me. I was still getting buffeting on the top of my head, especially if my face shield was up. With the stock windshield the wind would hit me square in my eyes. Bearable with the face shield down. The installation of the taller shield stopped that but I was still getting some light buffeting coming up from my knees. At the recommendation of someone on this forum I put the lowers on and dang if that didn’t solve the entire buffeting problem. It’s a comfortable ride now that compares with what I had with the RT.

I've been in much the same situation as you. I installed the Transcontinental windshield and the side fairings. I'm still getting some head shake with buffeting just hitting the top of my helmet now. I did modify on Transcontinental windshield by adding some pop out vents and that helped but did not completely solve the problem. I now have a new unmodified Transcontinental windshield and I am playing with some other ideas trying to completely eliminate the buffeting. I can at least ride the bike now and it is better than before. I was wondering if the lowers would be enough to help. I was in an accident many years ago and have three cervical vertebra fused and I can't tolerate my head shaking very much.

that's precisely what was happening to me without the lowers on. While I wasn't getting beat up by the wind anymore, especially at higher speeds, I was still getting a bit of head rattling. Using some highly scientific methods (my hands feeling around for where the wind was coming from ) I could feel the wind crawling up from under the side fairings. I believe it was @Star-Lord that recommended putting the lowers on, which I planned to do this weekend but as mentioned, I got impatient and spent last night figuring out how they mount. This morning I used it for my 25 mile commute to work (much of it interstate) and damn if the buffeting was gone.The ride home was even better as it was no longer freezing so it got to enjoy a ride home with my face shield up and the radio on even . Give them a try, you have nothing to lose. You've gone this far. I think when the weather warms up, I'm going to try the stock shield again see how that feels. Either way, she's ready for some serious touring. Next up is going to be the seat. I've always used Corbins soI'll probably do the same with this bike. We'll see how it goes. Put on new Metzler Cruistec tires on my 2023 Pure. Hope these tires will provide a smoother ride than the OEM Bridgestones, which began to square off after 6,000 miles. While I had the bike up on my Kern-Stabi lift, I removed the fender to make removal of the rear tire easier and used the opportunity to install a Wunderlich Tail Conversion Kit to tidy up the bulky rear end tail light assembly. The kit comes with a side license plate, rear indicator mount and wiring harness. Added Kellerman 1000 DF indicators, which were a little fiddly to wire (required soldering 4 wires each with bullet onnectors to plug into the Wunderlich harness), but everything went back together and looks alot cleaner in my opinion. The Kellermans are very bright and are dual function to serve as both brake and turn signal lights. I kept my Denali B6 brake light (mounted to the side license plate) to give extra lighting/braking conspicuity, which is wired to a Hex ezCAN controller Finished up by adding 18L Viking Patriot saddlebags that don't interfere with the side license plate. @bdalameda , BRO!!! you've gotta do the lowers. It's efn amazing how nice the ride is now! I'm riding it again today and man the commute to work is really enjoyable. As a side note, the added weight of the trunk has made my bike adjust so that it's way more comfy as well. At first I felt like It was riding on the bump stops and now that the back end is heavier, it's just a really comfy ride. Can't wait to take her x-country.

My Pro Race pipes eventually arrived last week, fitted on Saturday. Apart from the seat height ( going to alter the Mustang seat not the std one) I'm pretty much done with mods for now.

The salesman at my BMW dealership in Oz owns one just about identical. He has the mega expensive cylinder guards, but much the same with the same pipes… he loves it and was part of my final decision to buy one (belief in his own product).
