2021 R18 Classic First Edition
I tend to prefer taller windscreens than most people. Any advice on a couple options for replacing the stock screen with a taller one? R-18 Classic First Edition... Thanks!!

I think BMW offer an option for the taller windscreen don't they?

Other than that, this is the best looking one I have come across for the R18:

Pics of it fitted to an R18 halfway down this thread:

There are 3 different sizes of screen offered by BMW as accessories. The tallest one is the same screen that comes stock on the R18 Classic. So you can get two shorter options from BMW for the Classic (or add a screen & driving lights to base R18). But there isn't anything taller than the stock screen available now from BMW, nor from 3rd parties. The only option now is one of the extensions like those from MRA, Touratech, Puig and others that can clamp onto the top of the screen and add some more height. One advantage of those is you can remove it in a few minutes if you don't need the height all the time and move them onto other bikes. I swap the MRA screen between my GSA & my R18 Classic to take the cold bite off in winter riding.

Some had posted that Clearview Shields was considering making a taller version for the Classic, but they don't appear to have offered it yet, nor any other vendors I've been able to find.

You could of course use a generic universal screen like those that mount on handlebars, but it may not look as nice, nor be as secure a fit as something designed specifically for the R18.

Great info, thanks for posting!

At 6'3" tall. I am using a Memphis Shades Classic Deus windshield. It works pretty well for me. I had to run a rubber coated braided stainless steel cable from the bottom corner of each corner and then under the speedo mount to make it more stable at highway speed.

That screen is about 18” above headlight. The stock R18 Classic screen is 16”. Stock screen with MRA X-screen Tour extension is 21” above headlight at max extension, but can be adjusted to have more flare or to overlap stock screen to provide something in the middle.

I’m 6’4” and find MRA at max extension blocks all wind and buffeting at the helmet, making it perfect for winter riding. Depending on height of OP an extension to the stock screen or a universal replacement like the Memphis Shades could be option until a taller screen that uses stock Classic mounts is available.

Now THAT'S cool! I wonder how much taller it is than the stock screen?

I would not change the excellent frame of the BMW fork mounted windshield for a handlebar mount.
I agree, but the difference between $1400.+ for the BMW complete set up or $200. for the simpler Memphis Shades was my deciding factor.

OP has a Classic though, so they already have a screen, driving lights and mounts thus the $1400 cost doesn’t apply. They are looking for a taller version.

If you have a base R18, a universal handlebar screen like that from Memphis Shades can be a lower cost option to get a screen.

You are correct sir, if you don't have a R18C

I bought the 19 inch from Clearview it's terrible. Buffeting worse than the stock shield.
It is a bit of trial and error. Buffeting is affected by the windscreen, your height/position on the bike and your helmet’s design. I’m 6’4” & found the original screen terrible. I put an extension lip on it from MRA that was about 5” and I could adjust the angle and that resolved it for me. To avoid using the add on & keep it clean looking, I got the tall (20”) 7Jurock screen with the flip. That extra kick of the flip pushes air up higher which helps. It is a bit wider than the stock screen too. I use an Arai Defiant X full face helmet and a Schuberth C5 flip lid on my R18 Classic. With the original screen it was terrible, but it’s fine with the 20” flip screen. My MRA lip is used on my GSA & R18 now for when it’s really cold in the winter and I want the most wind blocking.
