2024 R18 Roctane
I purchased a set of chrome leg rests from Wunderlich for my BMW R18 Roctane in June. After a couple of months they have rusted. I have decided to remove them from my 'Pony'. I CANNOT recommend them in the slightest. They come with instructions to clean on a regular basis. I do this with my bike at least weekly as a matter of course. They were also polished as are other parts of my bike. I have had chrome parts for at least 50 years and have never seen anything like this. They refused to warranty, of course. The photo is of the underside of the rest which is almost impossible to access after installation.20250907_105953.jpg

You live near the ocean or something. That is pitiful

That is atrocious, and I thought mine was bad.

I installed several Wunderlich parts. The chromed aluminium pieces were good, but I had all the chromed steel parts replated. That being said, I also sent the aluminium C-bows for the saddle-bags, supplied by Hepco & Becker, for replating.

Thank you for sharing. Convinced me not to pay the Wunderlich premium and bought a cheaper tank frame from Amazon. Lots of Asian suppliers but bought from Amazon at 100 euro less than wunderlich for what looks like the same item. And with Amazon prime returns are easy.

As far as I'm concerned this is very poor and appears to be cheap manufacturing. I'm of the generation that grew up with chrome on cars and elsewhere. This should NOT happen after a couple of months!!!!! Spread the word. Maybe (or not) Wunderlich will realize that the "accountants" aren't in it for the long term.

So interesting to see those closeups of the parts.. They are obviously lasercut, but never went thru any tumbling afterwards, seems like rawcuts, nothing is post procssed.. ( im running a cnc and laser shop from home, so picked up on the edge quality right away... :D )
