wunderlich leg rests vs BMW

I have the BMW leg rests and don't use those either. IMO, the cylinders are too high for my legs to prop up on, and I almost cramped up when putting my leg up on one while going down the highway. But that was my own experience (and I don't do yoga 🤣).

There are aftermarket foot pegs that clamp onto the forward engine crash bars that put your feet in a more natural angle. Note however that the crash bar diameter is 1-1/8" if ordering, as this is not a typical size for foot peg clamps.

This is what I got:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/322323927752?var=511227508291

It's cheap at $50 bucks for the pair, but then you get to the appropriate 1-1/8" clamp:

And, they are $14.40 a piece.

I don't expect you to get what I did, as you'll probably find something better, and cheaper, than I did. Besides, the chrome on the foot pegs looks like it'll last a season or two before it starts flaking. But, I was looking for something cheap and frankly, was keeping expectations just as low.

I use the BMW leg rest. I also added a back rest to my bike which gives a little more support when cruising along. Wunderlich has a nice product but cost more than I wanted to spend.

Thanks for the info. Exactly the feedback I was looking for

I paid for the Wunderlich experience. Four holes needed to be enlarged on the ‘bracketry’ because they were too small. For the price I paid, I wasn’t happy. Wunderlich’ s remedy: return and wait for a new set, or 15 minutes with my drill press/get a discount on my next purchase. I opted to drill and mount myself. I have the bobber homage seat arrangement that places you a little higher on the bike (I think). I am 5’11 and I either kick a foot up and rest the ball of my foot on the back side of the cylinder or I go full cruise mode and use them as intended and rest both legs. The crash bar is perfect for my height to be a foot rest to compliment the leg rest. I can feel a little warmth, but depends how pants cuff is positioned. Is it worth twice? In my opinion, no. But, if you want to use non-bmw crash bars (mine are a larger diameter) and just like the look, it is more discreet.

Nice ride! However, the bimmer-side of me is scared and confused by the "M" badge. Are pigs flying? Have cats and dogs started marrying?!?!?! Has BMW finally issued service manual DVD's to customers?!?!?!

Hey Mike, would you mind sharing pictures of how you put this together?
