I notice the OEM mirrors in your collection of ”surplus” items, which must mean you have found nicer ones. Can I ask what they are and if you have posted a photo of them installed? Of the very many photos posted of mods, I can’t recall seeing any new mirrors?! Thanks.

Good catch. The Mickey Mouse ears are traditional and a good throw back to the early bikes. I had the same one in my /5. But that doesn't mean I have to like them.

I wanted something more in tune with the flowing lines on the bike, especially the fishtails. Oddly enough my favorite was something cheap. How could that be??C04041FA-C1EE-400F-9E5A-9DF32163FDE1.jpeg113C4167-2D01-47C3-95E4-2844790E9319.jpeg

Those mirrors look nice. How is the quality and visibility vs stock as they are much lower? Thanks for the feedback.

I bought the Arlen mirrors and installed them last weekend. They look much better than the stock mirrors but they vibrate a lot more at higher speed. Visibility / field of view is also much smaller. It probably take some time to get adjusted. Will keep them on for a while to see how it goes.

yes they are a bit smaller. it doesn't make sense that they vibrate more as the fit exactly as the stock ones.

Vibration harmonics are a strange thing. It really depends on the geometry of the unit vibrating as well as its mass. It's actually not terribly surprising at all.

it's been a while and i am not home. i don't think i threaded them. Just put them through then nutted the bottom?

Seriously tho i can't remember. Of all the things i have lost i miss my mind the most.

Your mind is still ok. The perch is just a thru-hole.

Funny story: My delivery ride involved catching my left mirror with my hand at about 80mph after the washer and nut had spun off and the mirror floated up like a ghost.

Exactly, they just go through. You need to use the longer threads / bolts that come with the mirrors and screw them into the mirror arms. Then put them through the hole and nut them. I used the stock washer also but the BMW bolt won’t fit though. F8BC8365-2E14-4E26-8CCF-8C6E8035E19D.jpeg

I've got a set of these Ness mirrors, took them off after one ride. Poor quality glass and hard to see anything. They do vibrate quite a bit.
