Question SeaFoam (Annual Maintenance)

Any R18 owners using the Sea Foam product as part of their annual R18 maintenance routine; if so, which specific product, how much and how often?

The below product looks like it's designed to be added directly to the fuel tank, in order to target fuel injectors.

Added to Fuel Tank?

Added to Engine Oil?

Sprayed into Air Intake?

it is mainly snake oil.
Even on direct injection which has more issues with fouling of intake valves, injectors, misting H2O with the engine running on high idle is basically as effective.
It is thus best done when the air filter needs be replaced. You can the mist it into de air box.

I've never use any fuel stabilizers and such in any of my bikes over the years; I typically; try to jam as much fuel in my tank, just prior if I know the bike is going to be sitting or stored over the Winter season. That's my attempt to reduce the space within the tank, which could produce condensation.

I haven't ever incorporated the above mentioned product, or any other related products into my annual maintenance routine..

The R has been used seemly since the beginning of time. They have routinely gone hundreds of thousands of miles. Oil change, ride repeat.
 
I use it to over-winter my bike as a fuel stabilizer. I also use it in my lawnmower and other combustion engine tools. Dosage per the instructions on the can. I think 1oz/ gallon. I also add it to the oil on my house's backup generator to remove water condensation since I live near the ocean.

Full tank of Ethanol free. Always.
Usually fill 3 gallons of Wawa Ethanol free and top it off at home with a gallon of VP Motorsports MS 109 which is 104 octane unleaded (R+M)/2
That should land me around 93 octane Ethanol free. The reason for this is more to avoid condensation while stored and pre-ignition on the road, specially in summertime.

I only add a fuel stabiliser for winter storage on a full tank just to stop the ethanol separating the water out of the fuel. I have only been doing as we can no longer buy zero ethanol fuel. During riding season I always use Super, which has the highest Octane rating at 97 or 99 and the lowest ethanol at 5%, these have enough additives to clean the system for me.
Interestingly I did experiment twice with dropping to lower grade fuel and my mpg dropped for the tank by a good 7 plus mpg.

I do not like laying the bike up at all but on an air cooled engine a line was crossed when the councils started adding molasses into the salt to make it stick to the road. When it’s heated it ends up like a corrosive hard brown mess stuck to the bike that water does not rinse off.
 
Fwiw.... I do occasionally run some injector cleaner in a tank.... I just have it on hand for my 4wd.

I also do dose fuel I have on hand that I may not get around to using for a while as it is a general purpose additive. I buy 5l of it each year during the sales.... but it is a Australian one (F10). Mostly for my TD Landcruiser.

seafoam was made for 2 cycle outboard motors somehow people thought it worked good on 4 cycles. in the us or Canada try www.pure-gas.org .the only additive I've ever used is Techron made bt chevron oil.stuff work wonders.
 
If you are going to use an additive - use one that has PEA (Polyetheramine) in it. There are quite a few that have this. PEA is well proven to clean fuel injectors as well as carbon buildup on pistons, ring lands, heads and valves. Sea Foam is an OK additive but any additive with PEA is far better. Sea Foam is a decent fuel stabilizer though.
