Yes, best to not take me too seriously.

Anyway to today's activity, tank badges arrived. They are sorta the silver/grey motor colour, plan was to polished the "raised bits".... took a while but got there..... before and after doing the 1st one.

After doing those I moved onto the next bright idea I had and thought I move the ones I previously had on the tank down to the cylinder covers.... taped one on as per below:

Anyway, turned out that was a bad (dull?) idea. I stuffed one of the cylinder cover trims (bad Dremel!) and will never speak of it again. I blame myself for not wearing my lucky fluffy sleaved top.

For some reason I like the trims.... so off to a china shop I go.
Will look brilliant when completed. I’m getting mine powder coated Gloss Black then getting them engraved with either an inner circle and cross (No ‘BMW’) or with inner circle then ‘Final Edition’…
Opinions would be nice on which one.

Haha... for some silly reason I thought mine was polished aluminium but was aluminium that had been chromed (so thin copper deposit than the chrome... sorta obvious in hindsight), so after "enlarging" the circle (50mm ish) to take the 60mm tank size emblem I couldn't get the finished back to good enough. Generally, I know what looks right after I've done it but sometimes I go one step to far but normally have a step back plan just in case.... this time it's a $250 back step... in the end I've spent about $1k with the carbon and tube fetish so not the end of the world.

Inner cycle and cross..... but what would I know! Or.... since your WA based..... Swan to face forwards on both sides...

Stick to your original plan and grind down the circle bits, then get them powder coated gloss black to match your bike’s colour, get short polished alloy bolts and put your new badges on and it will look fantastic (put rubber grommets on the bolt ends to prevent scratching your rocker covers).
It will look unique and magnificent!

Probally will powder coat the 2nds.... here is the look I was thinking of achieving.... the emblem is recessed ok... not screwed at this stage and stuff ups not viewable in photo, but real.

I'm still thinking of trying to do this, but shift up a couple of levels..... so maybe make a template to guide me during the material removal.... try the other side one and if confident try this side again when the new ones arrive. Any way, it's not like I'm porting the inlet tracks of the motor with my dremel.... ahh... the 2 stroke days...

Isn't everybody hear really old?
I’m too polite to say; l’m here, you’re here and l will go out on a limb and surmise that Ulrich likes to POLISH off a glass of PORT or two ( who doesn’t ? ). Some of the cheap shit l drank as a student could have fuelled a 2 stroke. That’s 3 older people l know of.
P.S. - you’ll also have to explain the merits of a honing device Noel for porting / polishing .

62 and not only enjoy the occasional glass of port but also the odd glass of Beenleigh or Bundaberg rum!
Along with a nice Australian grain fed beef.
When I can find it here in Germany

Beenleigh - there’s a rum l haven’t consumed for over 40 years. Always Bundaberg. Will have to source a bottle ( not commonly seen in liquor stores in Australia - probably online ).

Last visited Beenleigh in 1984 when hitch hiked around Australia. Impressed that someone ( Red64 ) on the other side of the planet has information on a boutique rum distillery in Oz. A storey for my Bavarian friend ( formerly Munich ) who lives 15 minutes from me.

So I propose an international R18 meet at the distillery. A long way for some, many would say in a paralell universe (Queensland), however they have pizza as well so worth the ride (and grain fed steak, for those paying in euro's).

There are 2 Transcontinentals on bikesales at the moment for those that want to get there comfortably. Both not much more expensive than a business class flight to Germany.

I can do a map if anyone needs one......
