Brand and tire life on the R18

As I have stated in other threads, make sure if you replace your tires with Michelin Commander IIIs you get the correct version. There is a Touring and a Cruiser variant of the Commander IIIs. The Touring version appears better suited for the Bagger and TC models.

My $23,000 Boat Anchor thanks BMW

Couple things that don't add up here, or at very least need to be explained. First, I am going to assume that if the bike was bought from a licensed BMW dealership, and you bought the bike in the city of Modesto, that means this bike was purchased at BMW Motorcycles of Modesto. Outside of a...

Michelin commander III poor in wet ?

Its less of a noise and more of a "feel." I have yet to try some of the suggestions above given the poor weather lately but will do so and report back.

Michelin commander III poor in wet ?

Just did an 800+ mile round trip through California on new Michelin Commander 3 touring tires on my R18B. Tires are both Q3 2023 production. Can safely say bike had no issues at speed (3500 RPM in 6th gear). Was as smooth, if not smoother, than the stock Bridgestones my bike came with. Bike has...

Michelin commander III poor in wet ?

Hadn't seen anyone mention either that the Commander 3's come in two types - Touring and Cruiser. For the B or TC, you will probably want to go with the Touring. For the Pure/Classic, you will probably want the Cruiser. Fortnine discussing Commander 3-

Anyone installed quadlock on their bagger?

Whatever you do I highly suggest a vibration dampening module to avoid damaging the phone's camera during riding. Quadlock's in particular. I use an SP Connect clutch mount (https://sp-connect.com/collections/mounts/products/clutch-mount-pro) with their wireless charger vibration damping...

    Innovv dash cam

Some pics of the install. I had to move the front camera which I originally intended to mount on the front turn signal, but turning the handlebars pulled the cable. Instead, I mounted the camera just above the remote unit (no pic yet). There is a t25 bolt under the windshield just above the...

Right, but does it trigger the dashcam?

    Innovv dash cam

I am a little hesitant about this if using a BMW trickle charger on that port (which I do and I am sure others do as well). Won't any kind of current through that (even running to the battery for charging) trip the Innovv to turn on and potentially drain battery? Have you tried that?

Think I have my bagger figured out. I have a Wunderlich tail rack which has an unusually small 16mm tube design. Fortunately I still had my SP Connect mirror mount which I can cannibalize the mounting bracket (just so happens to fit a 16mm bar). That will be where I will mount the rear camera...

    Bagger vs Classic

Switch to Bagger after the front tire on my classic exploded. See here- https://www.r18forums.com/threads/complete-failure-of-bridgestone-front-tire.2076/ Was already using the classic for long distance rides where I would carry a lot of gear already. And the dashboard nav, larger fuel...

Is there a BMW shop manual out for our bikes yet? Or, an electronic version?

My guess is the "why" here is explained in this Fortnine video-

Denali does have a PowerHub that appears to function like the PDM module. https://denalielectronics.com/products/elc-00-30000?rq=gc_motorcycle~yr_2023~mk_bmw~md_r-18-b Some of the reviews on revzilla arent that great, however,

I have the B, not a pure/classic. The more I look at it the more I think removing the entire fender on the B will be too difficult. I'll need to ponder this for a while. Side note, installed the K3 on my R 1250 RS the other day. works great!
