It’s not dumb. I used their wiring harness running three wires under the tank from the relay to the battery for power and a wire to the aux socket for switched power. Three wires up to the handle bars from the relay to the switch. All the other wires tucked into the opening of the tank behind the front fork triple tree with the relay attached to the bottom of the triple tree with two wire ties. Relay is waterproof

I sure would love a vacation like that. I have rode a motorcycle all over your state. I was stationed in San Diego in the Navy and have returned many times to ride the northern part. Wonderful motorcycling state. Don’t much agree with the politics.

I had Corbin bags on my 2006 Roadliner. While not inexpensive they are well built and solid construction.
I rode that bike for eleven years and never put a scratch in it. The next owner crashed it within three months and credited the bags with saving his leg.

Well done ! Welcome aboard. Did they ask you to ride out to 200 miles ? My dealer had me actually bring the bike back to validate over 200 on the odometer. Playing it by the book…

I completely agree with you but tread lightly when criticizing the mother ship! There are some on here so loyal to BMW they will slap you around a bit for expressing such awful truths heheheheh!! They claim the problems lie everywhere but with BMW. I've been called an entitled American and heaven forbid, even a broken record LOL!!

Now on an even lighter note (and Black Dog, if you're reading this, you know I've nothing but respect for you and our freedom of speech and I admire your skills and support you 100% but...) I think it's funny how Corbin has stepped up to the R18 game. Like BMW, Corbin's products are great (and expensive) but in general their customer service can at times be quite taxing (See? That was nice! Was that European enough?) Still, I personally love Corbin products and have went to that "well" many many times and will go back again. BUT having Corbin as the leader in BMW's R18 accessory line is kind of like having Black Dog in charge of customer relations! Heaven help us all! Ha ha ha ha!

Get your sheet straight, I have one of the first Corbin seats ever made on my R18, received it Jan 21, 2021 also have a Corbin seat on the K1600B with 40,000+ miles on it. RDL on the R1200RT 90,000+ miles. I bought the R18 because of its ease of "customization" not for the availability of shinny bolt on factory doodads on the shelf at the local BMW boutique.

Whining about BMW not having after market parts for the R18 is like whining about Chevrolet not having custom parts for the 1983 Corvette, get over it.


Or, make your own, BMW did make this bike with easy customization in mind and if you have even minor skills it is easily done.

Now now Black Dog back off before someone sprays you! That spray smarts! LOL!! People aren't whining, they're just "put out" with the most lovely mother ship, who has suffered greatly during the global crisis (or something like that) but you made my point!! You bought Corbin seats for your R18 and K Bagger...why didn't you just make your own seats instead?? LOL!! And Chevy never promised custom parts (to my knowledge) for "the 1983 Corvette" but BMW did promise custom parts for the R18 but did not deliver - there is a difference (and PLEASE no entitled American or broken record comments from the peanut gallery...I am responding to Black Dog not you!) Many of us do fab - and I must say you are one of the best that I've seen - but we don't fab everything!

Here are the foot boards I made for the K1600B:
Made from 1/4" Aluminum plate, 1-1/2" square aluminum stock.
Machinery required: table saw, miter saw and drill press.
I have since modified them, 2" shorter, angle adjusted to road parallel with height adjustable.
The pictures are from 3 years ago, and use the Illium mounting brackets.
I will get updated foots of the footboards with custom adjustable mounting brackets and post tomorrow.
Also made a pair for the R1200RT.
The picture also shows the shortened side stand, made necessary when I lowered the K1600b 1-1/2", a shortened center stand from a K1600GT was also added.

Would you look at that a regular table saw being used to machine aluminum.

Sweet. Have you ever thought of making adapters that would fit common HD foot pegs to the R18? I know you’re not super pro bolt on but there could be money in adaptations for people of my customization skill level.

You old dog....you continue to impress!! Keep me in the loop too with your R18 floorboard build when it occurs. Did you post your method for lowering your K1600B on any other forums? I would love to lower mine too but have been a lazy fabber on that particular giant piece of Tupperware - although I do love it (pretty much). When the top-heaviness of the B gets on my nerves I just don't ride it for a while! LOL
 
I accept the challenge. Will give me a reason to spend some quality time at the airport with my dogs.

I will start on it tomorrow, right after Dialysis.
The hardest part about actually lowering the K1600B heating the Shock bracket to release the lock tight on the mounting bolts and having the correct size Torx socket.
The side stand and the center stand, if you have one, must also be shortened, welding machine required.

Not to speak for Urgefree but my interpretation of what he might be looking for are front and rear peg-mount brackets for the R18 that will accept passenger and rider HD oem and HD compatible accessory/after-market footpegs.
