WOW!!! ... my dealer told me dealer cost is just under $70 ... ouch!
I read this Recall was only for the first bikes hear some whereI wonder if chain wax lube would also work?
My bike goes into the service shop next Saturday for the B/TC headlight issue; I'll ask that this recall be performed..
That may work ... from what I have been told it is not so much the lube itself ... it is all about the carrier liquid for it. It needs to penetrate properly and then dissolve and only leave the lube behind .. some engineering WooDoo to get around having to disassemble it, when you could use some run-of-the-mill moly, lithium or graphite lube.It might... I used the stuff for a chain drive DUCATI; it wasn't bad, as it didn't wik off the chain or sprockets.. I'm going to hold off until after next Saturday..
Yes, only early models were affected ... maybe an oversight in the assembly process ... your dealer can check your serial and see if it is even necessary.I read this Recall was only for the first bikes hear some where
I think it was along the lines of a 'Service Bulletin' but my dealer did get a notice from corporate to administer this treatment ... it was free .. so hell if I turn it downWas this a recall (where BMW would send out a notice) or rather a service bulletin that would be performed in the off chance you service your bike at a dealership?
Thank you for the link. Other found interesting the rest of the info, specially about rust and other sensitivity to water and rust in some areas.Carden removal here, seems simple enough https://www.r1800wiki.org/en/category/hinterachse/
