Put the drill in reverse ( when drilling ) - no swarf in engine cavity.You could drill the top part by removing them, but what happens to all of the bits of metal laying around the engine from drilling?

Haven't arrived yet.... slow boat from China.... though... I've had more thinking time (went up the river camping last week, lots of drinking around the camp fire for 4 days)..... I'm thinking 2 or 3 of the ram tubes per side... definitely forward facing. Once the pair I ordered arrive I need to see if they will look stupid or cool before proceeding in any particular way. It is winter here (still rideable weather) so I might go all in if there's a chance it will look OK as a winter project.Well… inquiring minds.

Probably should decat as well. I'd like to get a set of headers to play with rather then butcher those on the bike though.

How does the dimensions of the carbon fiber piece, line up with the existing engine badge?So they arrived..... thinking of two.... buy a bit of carbon fibre plate, shape as a base to bond these to that then mount to the engine case. Will order a bit of plate now and go from there.

Interesting to see how the ECU will respond/adapt to the wild changes in intake air pressure. This was thé issue for sports bike engineers when ram air became the thing. They solved it by large volume ´still air´ plenum chambers. The R18 air filter box volume is little more than óne combustion cycle.So they arrived..... thinking of two.... buy a bit of carbon fibre plate, shape as a base to bond these to that then mount to the engine case. Of the same order.... but (as always nothing is simple) the air exit hole does not line up with the one(s) in the engine cover..... and you have the issue of how it will "screw" to the cover.... The ´gills´ are behind the front wheel/fork in a lower pressure area. Also the harmonicas throttle the flow. Next the ´vented´ air filter lid will equalize any fluctuations.My riding is in the 80 to 130kmh range .... so nothing to radical should happen pressure wise... just a bit more like the slots in the front cover really.

Cannot be compared with scoops feeding the filter. Hence interesting to see how it will pan out.
The mitigating circumstance is your use. At lowish throttle openings the air feed is a bit moot apart from the throttle respóns.

´Pressure` (mild) washed the unpaved camino dirt off of mine this morning. Dried it with a chamois but that still leaves a lót of water in nooks and crannies so took it for a spin. Comando in linen shorts, t-shirt, woven ´sketcher´ type, open face helmet. No sun glasses, no gloves. As on the local road between villages only just topped 100 km/h. The point being that even the sidecar rig on short stretches need like max a third of throttle for thát.
With the scoop feeding the filter space you already are. If you get it closer still, only the part of the filter under it would filter.
