Happy to help if needed but I would encourage you to search on the Motorrad USA site and type mini led indicators or at least Mini on the search facility to see if you get a result.

I am assuming you have a B.
For the B, the set of front indicators is different to the ones on the Pure, maybe because the front cowling .
I am based in the UK and the below is what I can find on the UK Motorrad site.

1st pic is the ones for the B, which apparently also fits the Classic.

2nd pic is for the Classic only.

Go online, BMW motoradd accessories that, s how i found parts for my compensation , ordered a set of engine protection bars and a tank bag for my 2022 Classic .

I got my Recall notice today concerning the reverse gear issue.
The letter indicated it was not a remedy.
They estimate a 1 hour job to disconnect the reverse action from the bikes electrical system.
The reason is a seal was incorrectly installed around the unit allowing moisture and corrosion to short and cause a fire.
Nothing was said about a $1,000 parts gift.

Hi yes like i stated earlier if you do not mention the compensation the dealer won,t either , ask for the official recall letter what you should of received , ( but like myself never got one ) it clearly states you can have 4% of the cost of your bike when purchased to be spent on BMW accessories .

i took my bike for regular maintenance without any idea of this recall, any no clue of a compensation. The dealer was the one that informed me.
It’s outrageous that a dealer wouldn’t inform that to the client. I’d complain directly to BMW

I totally agree , BMW have not handled this situation professionally as they should of , all i was told when i enquired was oh maybe the letters are late in arriving (i still did not receive one ) you have to forceful my friend as from my experience (and others ) if you do not broach the problem the dealer won,t either .

It appears that the compensation not being mentioned, is mainly in the UK, and a few other countries. Do you think the dealers are not mentioning the compensation to the customers, and possibly claiming the $1000 accessories to resell themselves?

My experience in South Australia (at the only dealer for 450 miles) gave me the impression that one had to ask...... and I have super powers on this type of thing.

I assume, even with social media these days, that some owners are a bit clueless and BMW can get away with it. My experience is that as far as "BMW" owners go in general (think cars as well) this would be true. The downside to their approach on this is somewhat pissing off the more enlightend owners, though most of these would settle down when given a "free" gift! (so not a bad corporate strategy).

I also picked up on the vibe that (down under at least) the dealer benefits more from servicing your bike and charging you directly then being paid by head office under their 3yr maintenance deal. That would just stand to reason off course, but has, in my experience, been obvous when I have spoken to the dealer about the value of the 3yr maintenance package prior to the reverse recall.... they gave quite poor reasons as to why it was best to pay them in the normal way....

fwiw..... my view on servicing contracts is most based on the understanding that having you return to your dealer each year is the best chance they have of getting you to spemd with them. My brother just got his 2017 Road Glide serviced and some how it turned into a 2024!.... fwiw there are 2 Harley dealers in town..... he went to the one that offered the cheaper servicing (not the one he was more loyal to.... haha!).

Agreed with previous posts, no mention in my US American letter either, as I understood it, they are not volunteering it until asked .

Hi everyone. I was checking this recall and it seems to be unclear. Officially it's related only to US market, only because of different weather conditions in the region and VIN checker have said there is no open recall for my bike. This is not really matching to the statement "all bikes with reverse".
When i called to the BMW dealership here in Czech, i've been told that i should visit the them someday in March next year to deactivate the reverse unit and then "we will wait for further action". They came back to me only after few days after my call, so they probably was not aware. Does anyone of European owners knows better if we have to be aware of this issue as well or not? I won't replace again burned parts on my bike to be honest...

Hi Petr,
I am in the UK and I am yet to receive any letter, however, my local dealership was well aware of the recall months ago, they told me about it at the beginning of October when I went to collect some stuff. They told me that the letter was probably arriving at some point in November. I checked the DVLA website which is the government agency in charge of all motor vehicles in the UK, and there was not recall mentioned for the R18.
It was only when another UK member received his letter not so long ago that I checked the DVLA again and there it was, the recall notice. To date, I have not received any communication from BMW and it is bizarre some owners do and some don’t, even in the same country. The fix supposedly will be in place next spring, or so does are the rumours.
I read somewhere a while ago that the biggest concerns were on countries where humidity and heat is constant, i.e, Asia or the Pacific regions. The UK will never be a hot place but it is certainly a wet one. I rarely use the reverse gear and maybe this is the reason I am a bit chilled about the whole situation. Write to your dealer or the BMW HQ in your country, so at least there is a documented trail and take it from there.

There’s 19 pages so I may have missed it but has anyone actually had a fix done yet? I was in contact with a dealer (UK) yesterday about something else but asked if there were any updates on the fix….err nope. I don’t understand what’s holding the job up, unless it’s a bigger issue than we are being told. I was told all R18’s are to be disabled until a remedy is available. 🤷‍♂️

When i enquired i was told it could be January before the fix is announced , for a seal to keep out moisture ? i only hope they do not announce its a no go that will be fun for R18 owners .

I spoke to BMW Motorrad Czech yesterday and let's say that direct answer was bit foggy. They asked me to send an email to customer support email adress and wait for reply. So no clear answer in the way "Yes, there is a need or no you don't need to be afraid" I am waiting for official reply. But like i said, i already have the experience with burned harness and don't want to repeat it and pay again. So let's see.

I cannot comment on Europe but here in the UK the official letter from BMW Motoradd i was shown concerning the recall (after i requested one ) was dated in March this year , cannot understand why your dealership is faffing around it clearly states it is a safety recall , therefore it requires attention you need to complain more forceful my friend .

You are absolutely right. Yesterday i called to "my BMW service" again and they said that i have to bring the bike to them whenever i can and they will disable the reverse gear unit. I will get a voucher for 1K Euro as a compensation. I just don't understand why it was not communicated to the owners and i got this info only thanks to this forum. So guys - thank you.
