Reverse gear recall problem

I just scheduled an appt at my local dealer in Reno, NV to reverse the reverse recall. So they have a fix now for the recall program and you can schedule an appt in the US.
 
Funny thing is I never got the letter, therefore missed the opportunity to get some bits for the bike. Oh well, mine has been done now and the only accessory I want is the RS mirrors.

Thank you. I will ask. I would have thought that since I did not suffer any inconvenience and they did the fix, I wouldn’t be entitled to the comp but will see.
 
The forums for the BMW LT, K, and R bikes have increased the joy of my riding experience a thousandfold.
I found critical information on the forums, such as how to navigate safety recalls. Of course, one of my favorites
is Farkle stories and photos (I had to look up the meaning of Farkle). But, by far, the relationships that sparked--as far from New Haven as Frisco, TX
made for forever friendships.

I'm scheduled to have the reverse disconnected in about 12 days. Hopefully the fix letter will get to me soon.
 
You don’t need a fix letter. Just schedule an appointment at your dealer for the fix. BMW had contacted my dealer about the fix, so they were aware of it.
 
I wrote my dealer today about an appointment and the compensation payment toward R18 accessories. I'm thinking the 719 Comfort seat might save me from paying $1000 for a Corbin replacement.

Good news. An absolutely great dealership. They disabled mine when it was in for winter maintenance. Haven't yet heard from them about the fix but I'm patient. I won't be riding until the salt is washed off the roads.
 
Any idea how long the fix takes? Dealerships near me are about an hour or so away, I'd rather ride there and wait while it's done if that's an option.
 
To be honest, the fix itself is a couple of hours but then a software update needs to be done and this can take several hours. I was told up to 18hrs but I doubt it takes that long. Having said that, they may do the update overnight so that they can work on other bikes during the day.

They had mine overnight, maybe that was why…..
 
I contacted my dealership to try to schedule the reverse recall fix and they said they don’t know anything about a fix, they haven’t gotten a bulletin from BMW and theres nothing on the website. Anybody have any ideas who to call at BMW to inform my dealership?
 
New Jersey dealership called me.. Reverse parts are in to fix the Reverse Recall; in addition, they're performing the Headlight recall which was replaced under warranty, but not under the recall..??
 
My dealer said to wait another month until fix is in. So I canceled the reverse disconnect.

The dealer also said that under warranty BMW would pick up the bike and bring it. The catch is BMW covers 50 miles. The balance for me was $921.63.

So I cancelled that pick up and am riding it 160 miles for under $15
