Noob to R18 TC but many thousands on the others. I bought the Purple Rain Edition so I can act like the fat, 50 year old prince (sans Apollonia since wife doesn't ride) on a ride from Pittsburgh to Napa and beyond mid May. I've been outfitting the bike for some long road action, but I have to say that "farkle-ism" is a relatively unknown phenomena in R18 realms. I offer these items for anybody who might want to see how an R18 can be junked up for road life.

The pics are annotated with madness. Also, I added and SAE and heated coat pig tails direct to battery (almost direct). Given the tight battery compartment, I used the positive lug on the right side of the bike for positive connection and slid the battery out just a little for the negative. Solid connection points with lots of room to make routing pretty under the seat.

That's it. I hope something here helps someone live R18 dreams!

She looks great! My shop had a twin to yours and she really pops in the sunlight. Sounds like a nice trip and I for one would enjoy any comments and photos you may get time/care to share about your travels and how the bike is working out as a long distance steed.

🍿🍺

Should be an interesting ride as I'm spoiled over the years riding GSA, GTL, and XR for big miles. This should be a different experience - I can't wait! Purple Rain!

Installed the OldTimers saddle bags today.

WOW !! those look amazing, they sure have the correct period (retro) look and blend in nicely. I like the red lights/reflectors on back.

These look like factory OEM parts. NICE !!

Dude, #1 nice! #2, if a set of copper BMW emblems ever shows up here or on ebay, you gotta get 'em! Match everything up.

There ya go! Match everything up

/if anyone ever finds a source of or figures out a way to do that little rear fender emblem in copper, you'll make a tidy little profit

Hi Holan, can you provide a link to your site where I can find the fixing plate (they come in various sizes?) that can be inserted into luggage to fit on the QR rack?
Thanks.
do you need a set for a bag or a pannier? to the back or to the side?

Yes, our QR system allows you to mount a bag or top-case on the same rack. a small bag or a 64L top-case - it does not matter

Thank you, I realise that. Your website says………”Our Heritage QR 2-in-1 Rack combines beauty with functionality………..So that the assembly of luggage does not take much time and does not require the use of straps, we recommend using our mounting plate with a lock and key lock. This plate can be mounted inside the bottom of the bag. It is available in 3 sizes: S, M and L - to be ordered separately”. I was after a link so that I can see the mounting plates, how they work and decide what size I need. Thanks.

Dayrider seat arrived this morning so fitted that. Will hopefully grab some pics on the bike tomorrow as it’s raining now. Quite a difference in size from the OEM low seat.

Removed the fork reflectors and E5/ E10 stickers from the fuel tank. Removed the plastic covering the BMW logo on the brake calipers.

Switched the heel/ toe shifter around so that the heel shifter is on the outside. This has allowed me to lower both slightly while still giving clearance to the exhaust and side stand.
