today I wanted to show you a bit of the prototyping process. it is a long process with many corrections, so I will limit myself to a few photos. The users of the R18 First Edition will be most interested in this case, because in about 10 days the final product (large rack for a solo rider) will be available in our webshop;)

I got home from work a little early so...red high-temperature enamel to my muffler tips!

I know. It's a bit weird. I just always liked the look of the classic Lafranconi exhaust.

And need to be matchy-matchy with the Old Girl.

Perfect, exactly what I’ll need. Will it be chromed or gloss black? Where is your shop, located? (Hopefully in USA)

Curious minds want to know.... What brand/model number of epoxy paint is it? Does the paint hold up over the long haul? Does it discolor from the exhaust gases?

I misspoke, it’s enamel, not epoxy. It’s just rattle-can very high temperature primer then engine enamel picked up at the local auto parts store. Nothing all that special. Sprayed on after taping/masking with cardboard.

Regarding longevity, it’s the same stuff I sprayed on the Guzzi cans years ago. It’s holding up without issue. They get considerably hotter and the exhaust is much nastier than the R18.

addendum: here's exactly what I used

I went finer gauge and small interstices, stainless steel. It wasn't great to work with. Kinda floppy. But I think it looks nice. I ran a thin strip of duct tape folded over the edge on the north and south sides then bent it to 90 degrees.

today: the rack for the solo rider for the R18FE:
Beautiful work! That's the kind of engineering that I would like to see in order to mount "driving lights" each side of the headlamp.
Using these lamps...

But having the bodies powder coated gloss black, with the lamp bezels chrome, like the OEM headlamp. With nice, gloss black tubular mounts, I think that they would sell like hot cakes.
