BMW (Mustang) Seat options breakdown

Selling my Weekender as I “upgraded” to a Russell Day-long. The weekender is years beyond stock in terms of comfort but RDL is light years ahead of everything else as far comfort is concerned. Bike is a 22 Classic.

The reason for the more narrow stock seat on the R18 FE is that knees are closer together against the tank and a greater range of average inseam folks have a more flat footed fit. If you see a front photo of a rider on a wider seat...the knees are more splayed out. Also of course the stock seat looks better than the customs on this bike in the showroom. Note: the more narrow the seat, the greater range of torsos will fit at the dealership visit. Longer inseams will prefer custom wider seats. Butt comfort is always a debate...too many varied butts out there!!! There is no such thing as one size fits all. My 29.5" inseam likes the stock FE seat...my butt gets along fine for the less than the one tank journeys I typically ride. Just personal thoughts and not inviting arguments.
 
Um.. does the Day Rider set come with instructions? :whistle:
I don't know if I'm supposed to use the stock bolt in between seats? Expected this to be an easy install but the gap between the metal mounts from the pillion seat and the mudguard holes is huge, exceeding the length of the stock bolt?
Are there any spacers that I am not aware of? or are these metal tabs to be bent to get them closer to the mounting holes?

I have the weekender, but I just use it solo. The cap over the rear screw of the OEM pillion I moved forward to the rear screw of the rider’s seat. I had no issues with it fitting.

If you are using the pillion, it should connect just like the OEM seat. Don’t forget there is a strap on the OEM pillion which has a spacer. Are you using that with the new seat or a replacement strap?

The seat comes with a spacer and bolt as shown in the instructionsIMG_1357.png

As we all know the dealers have little to no information on the seats, so we are left to either buying them blind and hoping that they will be what we want. Well I got a Mustang seat thrown in with the purchase of my 2023 R18C...just not sure if it's the Day Rider or Weekender without seeing pics of both? Either way it's much more comfortable than the stock seat for sure.
