I agree pal, I love the look of the stock fish tails, but mine has just gone in to BMW Motorrad for it's first service, post exhaust mod and they were impressed and stated it hasn't invalidated my warranty or devalued the bike.
The extras BMW are now doing for the R18 are impressive, I'm going to get the bobber modification next and the beach bars.
At the end of the day, it's horses for courses, we're all different and we can all do what makes us happy.
Peace out bro 👍

Hiya buddy, I did post them, however, I cannot locate them on the thread, therefore, I'll take some more and repost them. All I can say is Matt has done a great job, and you cannot see the weld unless you go under the bike 👍
How does Matt open them up? Does he cut the bottom of them and just fold it up?

I believe that the videos posted in this thread show the level of loudness that I am comfortable with. I don't need louder than what is shown on the videos at the start/top of this thread. The key is to have the bike fairly moderately subdued in noise until the throttle is fully opened to make noise when necessary. I think the video on this thread shows that perfectly.

I was careful to state that loud pipes saves lives with the disclaimer of " in my person belief" and at the end with "IMO"

I just personally feel more safer ( IMO) , AND I really like the way Loud bikes set off car alarms as you drive by !!

personal opinions only.

( P.S. ......I also like to pay LESS for everything, not more.....hahahah, but that a different thread !!)
Everyone who drives has had the experience of having a loud bike or car come by you and startle you because you don’t hear it until it passes you. Most 2 vehicle motorcycle accidents are from a car turning left in front of you. That car will not hear your loud bike unless you have your exhaust pointed forward. Being highly visible and being seen is a much better accident deterrent than being heard. A loud bike is only loud, it doesn’t help other drivers around you locate you, it is non-directional. “Loud pipes saves lives” has no basis in fact, it’s only a justification for someone who likes loud pipes. If you like to draw attention and set off car alarms, that’s fine, it’s your choice, enjoy it, but understand the dynamics and if you’re really interested in being more safe, wear something bright instead of black.

I like to hear the motor run.
So I plead guilty.

Yes since you are stationary, same as if you were stopped at a light, but pay attention to motorcycles coming up from be hind you or riding towards you. You will not hear them until they pass you if you are driving.

💯
The physics of sound propagation and the biology of human hearing both make it very hard to tell where a motorcycle is coming from using noise alone. That’s why relying on noise as a safety tool is flawed. It’s even worse with low frequency sound. That propagates and diffuses in a spherical manner bouncing off cars and buildings and trees.

I like my stock Acrapovic exhaust. It has a good sound without being annoying. Some studies also show that those with “loud pipes are greater risk takers and have accidents at a higher rate than those that don’t have loud pipes.
