Woke
In your drawing, is the steel section sizing critical? If I was to use 50mm box section all round, would that be a problem for me?
it depends on the wall thickness off your material, I did not want to the frame o flex when the bike is lifted

I have some 50 mm stainless box section, 3mm wall thickness. Was hoping that would work.

Recently I asked my local service manager how they lift the 18's and he showed me a jack similar to the Red Line Mini Frame Scissor Jack. They lift either the front or rear. He cautioned against using a standard lift (like Harbor Freight) cause they put to much load in a small area; unless you add something similar to the Kern-Stabi's support brackets.

SoCalMike,
I have a question for you.
When the service manager cautioned against “too much load in a small area”,
Was he concerned that
A) the bike is unstable and could topple off the lift?
or
B) the engine case could be damaged from 750 lbs of weight acting on a small area?

Can be lifted using the 4 lifting points on the engine/transmission or 2 front engine lifting points and the dead fish attachment points.
Toral of $100 for the pair.

Not just for motorcycles. Paid $450 for the lit 15 years ago.

Hi Black Dog, Thank you so much for he picture... What did you use for the risers/connectors to the engine and rear frame? Are they something you purchased or machined yourself?

Sweet plane (Cessna 172?), I trust you got it off the ground under its own power now.

That post is almost 4 years old and Black Dog is no longer a member

For what it’s worth. I did a two year build project on my bobber using this scissor jack.
With the optional riser adapters I could lift my R18 for virtually anything I needed.
I just don’t get the value of these adapter plates everyone is discussing.

Like MilwDave, a wheel chock ( fixed to ground ) , support stands and a simple scissor lift with small blocks of wood at times. Raised front , rear of bike , balanced in middle to remove frame rails for engine cover removal. Just avoid pressure on oil filter.
