I'm interested to hear how you like the Metzelers. I will either go with them or Continental when it's time. Micheline would normally be high on my list. I'm surprised at all the problems people have had with their cruisers tires.
Hopefully the weather will start to warm up and I can provide additional Metzeler details; however, the lack of road noise that I would normally hear on rough pavement was the thing I noticed..

Darn it, I forgot I wanted the waxed canvas tail bag for my R18. The fix is in and I never had my reverse disabled. I need new tires a brake bleeding and a valve adjustment so they are replacing the reverse gear wiring and all that other stuff in a couple of weeks. If I would have just taken the bike in I would have gotten that bag for free. I told myself there were no R18 accessories I wanted. Id love floorboards but I know Id scrape them badly
Curious - Which bag are you talking about?

I just dropped my R18 B off at the service shop here in New Jersey to have new Metzeler Cruisetec tires installed, as well as having the Reverse functionality restored; I got a good look at the following new parts:

New wire harness with a BOSH relay
Mounting Bracket
New DC Cables
Plastic Cover
It looks like a new bracket was installed, which holds the newly installed Bosh relay and wiring harness:

Just got the bike back from the recall service! Just in time for the season to start up! The reverse works, but does anyone feel like it's slower now? I've used it so infrequently that I may just not remember, but I feel like pre-fix it was a bit fast and now it's at a good walking pace.

I used the Reverse, when I returned home from the service shop; thinking back, I can't say that I noticed a difference...

Unless they changed the motor or the gear ratio, the reverse speed should be the same. The motor engagement could be slower or faster depending on the propagation delay inherent in the design of the new circuit.

Finally got my TC scheduled for the reverse fix this next Monday. Can’t wait, as I use it all the time to back into my garage. Also used it quite a bit in parking spaces.

I had my 2 bikes in today to get the reverse re-activated. I asked what was involved in the job. The module that is susceptible to moisture, doesn't get touched. The fix is fitting the cables along with a relay, and the software update. So, does that mean moisture can still get into the module?

I would assume "yes", the Reverse module is still susceptible; however, the BOSH relay removed the DC power from the Reverse module from being powered 100% of the time, which would reduce the risk of electrical overstress and or leading to a possible fire.

I certainly hope so. I find the reverse speed is too fast... or perhaps I'm too old 😁

I don’t think is you, I also find the speed a tad too fast for my liking. I have learned to gauge the length of time I keep my thumb on the starter motor button and definitely keep both feet on the ground and walk the bike.

Ditto. It would be nice to have a more leisurely pace instead of having to keep bumping the reverse gear. I know, I know, I'd bitch if they h**g me with a new rope. 😉

Ok.. so I am about to take my R18 in for the reverse fix --I don't recall and not at my bike-- is the stock version saved in my handheld and I just simply pick that version in the process?

Are you referring to the Bren Tune? If so, yes the original map will be stored in the handheld.

I'm not following your question..?

I installed the bt-moto upgrade. Now I have to overwrite that with the orig. stock version, in order to take it in the the reverse fix. So was the original stock version stored in the handheld, (as well well as the upgrade?)

Then pay bt-moto AGAIN $200. if I understand correctly) to remap the NEW stock version.
