My bike went in this morning, collected from home, it’s coming back about 5pm tomorrow. 🤞 all fixed.
Can I ask which dealer you're using? I'm booked in with Wollaston in Northampton in a couple of weeks to have mine disabled. They've said I can have the compensation but I'm not particularly bothered about that, I'd prefer to take the bike just once and have it fixed. If you can let me know then I can reference the dealer to Wollaston. Many thanks,,,

Recall reverse parts aren't here yet in the states. I had ordered a couple small parts from Haps in Sarasota Fl. and they called yesterday. I asked about the fix and was told "no word yet" He said he would check as they didn't know the fix was in the U.K. and Canada.

drives me nuts to be more well-informed that the dealers. I knew about the recalls before they did, and I knew about the reverse fix being available before they did...

You have the advantage of getting global info first hand ;) ... while your dealership only gets what comes of the bulletin from BMW ... this is the power of people working together !!!

True, but it feels like the pros should have all the info! I’m like Ron Swanson at Home Depot. “I know more than you!”

My bike dropped off at my home yesterday. Reverse gear back in operation and BMW micro indicators fitted as part of my compensation package. The bike looks great and I am itching to get out.

It’s BMW Marshall Laceby. Tbh I’d cancel your appointment and tell them to get back in touch when the fix is ready, especially as you aren’t bothered about the compensation. Anibal is having his bike fixed today so the fix is definitely ‘out’ in the UK.

Hey Rufus ,
Well done contacted my dealership and left message about recall work , guess what no reply as usual !!! , since BMW changed to Vertu the after sales service is terrible . After this work i will no loger deal with dealerships . .

That’s a bummer Hammo, think we are all a bit held to ransom by the dealer that happens to be nearest to us. Thankfully the two I’ve had dealings with lately have been really good. I hope you do get sorted especially if you do use/need your reverse to work.

I have been really lucky with the dealership closest to me. The guys there are all bikers, once in a while they organise rides on Sundays (around spring and summer time) and they have a real passion for motorcycles and comradeship. I am aware of other dealers no so enthusiastic and wear the corporate hat all day long.

I just scheduled the recall for the reverse but the service tech said that the $1000 accessory compensation was over in December. Is this true? can anyone verify?
I got my compensation late January which is in Canada maybe other countries are different. I got the reverse disconnected in Nov. 2024 and at the time the dealer knew nothing about the compensation. When I talked to them in January they had the info and ordered the parts. No word on a fix here yet which is okay a lot of snow has to melt before we can ride anyway.

Ahhh...!!!! For those that had the Reverse module fixed, did it involve a new firmware push..??
Or...... did those that have had the reverse module fixed, that have a Bren tune, that they removed before taking the bike in for the fix, have any issues reloading the tune? (Haha!)

Ok, no BT for me. There was a firmware update because part of the consist of installing a relay and the ECU needs to know there is a new part installed. The OEM set up has the reverse module constantly receiving power, whether on use or not and activated when the reverse gear is selected. The new set up only gives power to the module once the reverse gear is selected, thus minimising the amount of time the module receives power. I also understand that the module itself is the same, just slightly improved to prevent moisture retention.
Funny thing is that it did not test the system when I got home, I totally forgot about it. I got drenched on my way home and my bike super dirty with salt and grime from the roads. Will clean it first thing and test the reverse.

My bike is stock, didn’t have opportunity to ask exactly what’s changed because my bike was done at the dealership and taken there from home & returned to me. The workshop manager did say over the phone the bike had to be upgraded with the new parts. Guess that means ECU update from the mothership. I’ve tried reverse, can’t detect anything different, works just as it did before. Lever down, R on the dash, press the starter, back you go. Stop. Lever up. Dash clears.
