What did you do to your R18 today?

Like some others here, I installed the crazy overpriced head cover accent pieces.

Also, I woke early to get a spot in the maintenance lineup at the local dealer. Service appointments are backed up months, including 600mi services. But Saturdays is first come first serve. It seems to be a sort of ride-in / party. I was early and was on my way by 10AM. Unfortunately, the bike has some issue that prevents resetting the service interval warning. Resetting that idiot light was one of the reasons I didn't do the service myself. Oh well... Awaiting an answer from Germany.

Looks good. I think the little tank bag rear mounting tab goes under the chrome trim piece though.

Actually it was yesterday. I rode with some of the local Indian riders. Since my wife opted to stay at home, I took the R18. It got lots of attention and questions from the other riders. And in the twisty mountain passes of the Appellation Plateau it was far more nimble than my Roadmaster.
On the return trip, we stopped at the Sam H. Werner Military Museum. That was a bunch of fun and very informative. Did you guys know that in WWII America made a small, very lightweight "jeep" that was powered with an Indian 45 cubic inch engine? And there was another small vehicle that had an HD opposed twin engine.

Looks great! FYI, my rubber battery strap split in two places. No idea why or how. I hadn't done anything to it. Anyhow, I replaced it with velcro and reused the metal clips. Just be aware, it's not super robust.

Hi,
there is some velcro under the tracker housing as well.
Also, I added a small fuse in the minus (!) line as well; that way 12VDC and switched 12VDC are protected simultaneously.

When you decide to actually access the battery properly you should move the fuse to the + side.

What do you think of the screen? Seems to work perfectly, removes wind loading and looks….ok…

Looks good.
But to my eyes, i'd prefer it set to be parallel to the fork.
If the protection stays the same of course.

why?? The tracker is mounted "floating" ; no connection to ground via the plastic housing...
Your post suggests that there is no fuse in the positive side? I say this because fusing both ends of the circuit is pointless. Recommended practice is to place the fuse as close as possible to the positive terminal of the battery. Placing the fuse close to the source of power protects the entire circuit (wiring, components, etc.). Putting the fuse on the negative wire at the end of the circuit protects only the equipment.

Check these pics out. New from wunderlich. I contacted the company in Europe to discover there is no part number yet, and they expect to have the part available in two months time. I grabbed these pics from their YouTube video.

That looks terrible, like they got the idea from a Ural out on the Steppe.
