What did you do to your R18 today?

For those of you that didn’t see my previous post on the baggage issue, get a TC and this Saddlemen bag, then you strap any camp chair you want on top of it…

OK you asked for it, YOU KNOW I Love my R18... Today it was sunny and clear and not overly hot, so I rode about 80 miles north on I-5, goodness the bike is great on long haul. I was a bit tired when I got to my turnaround, but after a few minutes of rest I was on my way back home.. In the end my old age did not kill me and neither did the bike which got much attention at the gas stop. A long ride is what she needed and I am most happy with the bike and her road manners.....

210km afternoon ride in the mountain to get cooler temperature ( 35C in my house !) with a friend of mine

And my R18FE met her grandmother, a R69 from 1959 !

Made my bagger...better :)

TC sized windscreen, TC seat, TC top box.

For those who don't look super close, here's what's missing from my bagger or different than the TC.
1. TC has a longer and slightly more retro with some chrome front fender
2. TC has larger pillion footpegs
3. TC has a grey / silver command center where your gauges are
4. TC has silver front forks
5. TC has different and large windscreen
6. TC comes with engine guards, aux lights and winglets out front
7. TC has leg wind guards
8. bagger lights are fork mounted versus TC mounted to the aux light hanger

I wanted more wind protection, higher seat and top box storage that was lockable and this was the cheapest route versus taken a $2500 hit on depreciation of my bagger and spending $2000 over that (4500 total) to upgrade to a TC.

In total I spent $240 for the windscreen, $500 for the seat and $500 for the top box. Engine guards are $199 and still on back order. So I spent $1500 making my bagger a TC when I could have spent $2,000 more getting the aux lights, winglets and other TC stuff but that's on me, no buyer's remorse as I prefer the all black look of this to the bits of grey / silver that the TC comes with.

Going to the dealer tomorrow to get my top box brake light and sound system working. The central luggage locking works on all 3 boxes without any coding as does the passenger heated seat button.

I am guessing this is the Jurok screen?

It is, Jury is still out. I don't mind how it looks so long as it functions but yesterday's highway ride was not a positive one. Almost like I'd rather just have clean air than turbulence but it was a windy day so I'll run it for 200 mile tomorrow and see if I still hate it.

Reviews are 50/50 depending. What height did you get and what height are you? (sorry for all the Qs!)

Wait what? Lol.

i can still see part of your legs sticking out of the rabbit hole so you are fine! 😎

That's what I was going to add. Windscreens are super hard to review. I've tried at least 6 different ones on my GS Adventure and each had different characteristics. The bagger was windy but it was super clean air and my shoei did the rest of the work of moving the air over me but after 200-300 miles, I was looking for a wind-break.

I got the 19" tall one. I'm 6'3", 32" inseam so that would mean torso + head length is 41 inches from the seat. I'm also on a Trans Continental high seat so the windscreen ends at about my chin. I can see over it no problem. I don't feel a burst of wind until I sit up tall and sort of off the seat a bit but the wind going around me isn't a head shake effect, it's more of a head vibration like a head massager you'd get in a barber. but it was very windy yesterday so I'm going to give it another go tomorrow.

I have been looking at a bagger. Thinking about a different color than my FE, just because. But damn that thing looks really good in stripes.

For those of you who don’t mind looking through your windscreen, the R18TC screen will have you sitting in calm. And as a bonus, buy a set of those clear flip wings. You won’t believe it. Got to to have those flip wings.
