I’m a bit worried that mini vibes will scar the tank, hence my question.
That looks great, my initial thoughts I want it 🤪. Your worry reminded me of my Harley’s that used to have rubber gaskets under each edge on a similar peace. When you took them off after a couple of years they had always marked from bits of grit rubbing. Watching this with interest for sure.

Well, you just saved me some money….next🤔👍

Yup. Street Glide same case.

I added my garage door opener to my R18TC. Simple solution, just used the visor mount, small rubber sleeve, and zip ties. So far it has stayed in place and fits tight enough to not move. Rubber piece is between the mount and handle bar, it keeps it from spinning.

Did a few little things that will probably not be noticed by anybody but me. Powder coated a few more small pieces - the header heat shields, the driver backrest post, handlebar clamps and bar risers, and GPS mounting bracket - to better blend the blacked-out and shiny bits. Added some better looking emblems on the valve cover trim, too. Generally getting the bike ready for a long-distance trip to Minneapolis in late June. Will be taking an old-fashioned, slow route avoiding interstates and toll roads and will be camping along the way. :)

Good way to keep you forward in the seat:

Yes, the driver's backrest works OK in that position. I have Unit Garage drag bars which make me lean forward in the seat. I really only use it on longer trips, and it does help improve my posture. It's actually for a Harley Davidson, made by Mustang who makes BMW's Dayrider and Weekender seats. It's a good match, but it does stick up like a sore thumb. :)

As a huge fan of ‘blackening out’, I commend your fine work 🏆

Today I designed and machined up two different windscreen attachments for my classic.

I had ordered some glass connectors but they are too large so waiting for some smaller ones to arrive so that I can install them

The shape of the smaller one was by pure accident and not intentional.

Also need to heat them up and shape them to the same curve as the stock classic screen.

both cut from a single piece of 4mm clear perspex/acrylic. buying individual sheets expensive but I dont have the facility to handle a large piece and cut it down myself. Cost for the sheet for two of the screens below was around 13 euro. width is only around 24cm but I can go up to just under 30cm on my small CNC mill but wanted to try a couple of variations to see how it impacts the wind buffeting and noise.

New smaller attachments are around 2 euro each so iI bought some fixed and also some hinged to play around with the angle etc.

Not as sophisticated as the ones that can be bought online from various places but I just felt that they do not follow the curve of the stock screen well enough.

Also did not want to spend more than 200 Euro on a new screen and still have the same wind issue.

Will also look at making my own lower deflectors will just need to search out the attachment hardware.

I did buy a new helmet and even with it being a Jet Helmet, basically open face with the visor, that was quieter than my flip up both from Schubert.

Hey guys,
Wanted to show you my new setup: the SP Connect Moto Mount 3D (1 1/2”).
I was looking for something minimalist and chrome that wouldn't mess with the R18’s look. To me, Quad Lock feels a bit too "modern" and bulky (even their chrome version doesn't really have that retro vibe).
I’m stoked because it has a super low profile; it doesn't look out of place at all, more like an OEM part. I also added the anti-vibration module to play it safe.
To deal with the sun reflection, I got an anti-glare screen protector and ordered a 3D-printed sun visor for the mount. The guy who makes these also does them for Quad Lock and for both horizontal or vertical phone positions. Since 3D prints usually look a bit rough, I’m gonna sand it down and use a Dupli-Color Gloss Black Metallic kit (primer and clear coat) to get it looking sharp.
I'll post some updates.

Currently just fitting my front engine cover guard, new black radiator guard and front axle slider.
Riding tomorrow morning, taking pics as well.
Now fitted… what the hell were BMW thinking by fitting that cheap looking plastic radiator cover!?!?
