What's the jacket of choice for your R18?

I bought some extra mounting fittings for my sidecar and it came in a bag with

I have since without any guilt/remorse spoiled myself with :cool: boots and jackets.

Took the decision it applies to men too :p

Ha! That's what my lovely wife says whenever I'm looking at motorcycle paraphernalia ! I'm looking online at the TwinStripes BMW jacket and see it's on sale in a few places. Can anyone who has this jacket tell me it fits "true to size" - meaning, if I purchase the size I normally wear, will it fit, or will it be too big or too snug? Thanks in advance.

It's a rare soggy, rainy day here in central Texas. So, spent some time this afternoon looking online for the BMW TwoSripes jacket. I see that most eBay and Etsy sales are counterfeit, and the ones on sale from reputable BMW dealers in the USA are not in inventory and would be ordered from Germany - a 3-4 week wait for delivery. Just a public service announcement for anyone interested. :)

One of those may have what you are looking for without the BMW price tag.

Australian BMW dealers are offering nothing on anything to do with R18’s, accessories or clothing.
 
I have many jackets in my collection. For many years I wore a now discontinued Chapter Jacket from Icon 1000, which was great. I currently am wearing a lancer jacket from Goldtop. If money were no object, I’d love something from Black Bear Brand.

I must have looked at the wrong brand!
Horween cordovan* horsehide is btw one of the most rugged leathers. Nowadays the cordovan monniker is often used to refer to the colour :rolleyes:
Oz kangaroo is better as that sees you jump right back on again 🤣

* the name goes back well over a thousand years to when moorish Cordoba was a tanning center of name.

I drop in here every now and again and see something interesting..... click, paste and start searching, look for a deal, check sizes then realise I have at least 8 jackets I wear depending on the situation already.... month or so goes by and rinse and repeat. I've been looking at the BMW stripes jacket 2 or 3 times a year for years now.... can't figure out if I'm a medium or L.... but... I think I'd feel a bit self concious in a BMW branded anything.... though I have a belstaff itch that doesn't seem to go away.... no matter how much waxed cotton I have (4 jackets).

Sometimes when I have a waxed cotton jacket with some biking cargo pants on I total 37 available pockets on a ride with 4 hankachiefs, 3 sets of earplugs etc.

oh man that had me laughing; só recognisable. GOOD for you!!! If you were a girl I´d send you a virtual hug with kiss.

Waxed cotton. Ooof the memories: back in the day it was the only thing water proof short of a boiler suit. It had to be cleaned and reproofed regularly to keep it waterproof and apart from smelling, half the countryside stuck to it and you had guaranteed black nail rims. It was a large part of the reasons why motorcyclist were banned from nigh all cafés, bars, restaurants. Then something weird happened when better proofing stuff was invented; it became upmarket fashionable :eek:
How about thát for a turn of events!
But then motorcyclists went from being a banned threatened species so rare we started greeting eachother on the road, to hords of dentists and lawyers playing 'wild' in brand spanking new leathers 🤣

Some times I am a bit girlish, like when I walk into a spider web in the dark, so feel free to send me a hug (I draw the line at kisses though).

Anyway, as a general bit of info to all the older men here, falls when working on a ladder or in the garden are way less of an issue if wearing motorcycle pants and jacket.... so less garden rash or ladder splash.

My Large fits great. And it’s my size.
It is a snug jacket. Not a loose, relaxed one.
