    Service Warning Light

Repost of something I posted in a similar thread: "I bought one of these to reset my MX light: https://www.cgsulitstore.com/produc...-tool-motorrad-obd2-scanner-cgsulit-sc530-pro Relatively cheap ($139), easy to use, doesn’t require Bluetooth or internet. Plug it in to the OBD port and the...

    Valve Cover Protection

I have. ’21 Classic. When I bought it BMW was giving $1000 worth of free accessories with the purchase. I got the Roland Sands billet trim covers for the front engine cover, valve cover, brakes and clutch reservoirs. I had the valve covers and air intake covers powder coated black. I’m glad I...

Is it possible to reset service warning

I don’t have wi-fi or cellular service in my barn/garage so anything requiring either of those was a no-go for me.

Is it possible to reset service warning

Yes, but it only allows you to reset it for up to a year. Then you’ll have to do it again. However, that may a limitation built into the ECU by BMW. I didn’t see a menu option that addressed other functionalities. The unit is a basic OBD reader that allows you to read/clear codes and reset...

    Babe’s with R18

I agree but I'm gonna have to see some ID. Too close to call.

    Show us your phone mounts!

I'm a weirdo. The last thing I want mounted on my motorcycle is a phone. I usually have one with me but it stays in my saddlebag unless I need to call someone.

    Bagger owners, the winglets work!

Such a simple fix to what was clearly a problem BMW must have known about when they were building/designing the B model. They could have added the winglets on every bike for next to nothing.

What did you do to your R18 today?

I bought the kit from Moto-D that includes a mounting plate and replaces the stock airbox cover. The instructions that came with it recommend a 15000KM service interval and you don't replace the filter you clean it, oil it and reuse it. It has a lifetime guarantee. Buy once, cry once. About $140...

What did you do to your R18 today?

Finally had time to install the DNA air filter. The instructions caution against over tightening the screws and BELIEVE THEM! I stripped one of the rear ones but since the screws are only about 1/4" longer than the hole in the mounting plate I only stripped the first couple of threads. I...

    Dealer ECU updates

I agree. When I had the 600 mile service done on my '21 R18C the dealer said there weren't any ECU upgrades available. Fine with me because my bike runs great. That was in the spring of 2022.

About to pull the trigger, How bad is the vibration?

I don't even like adaptive cruise control on my car. I turn it off and use it as a regular cruise control. I darn sure don't want it on my motorcycle. YMMV My 21 R18C came spec'd out with floorboards and cruise control but no reverse. That's perfect for me.

About to pull the trigger, How bad is the vibration?

It's a motorcycle. It's going to be uncomfortable every now and then. Rain, sunburn, noise, cold, heat, wind, vibration, etc. That's part of the appeal. That said, some motorcycles vibrate more than others and large twin cylinder motors vibrate more than most but I haven't found the vibration on...

    Speedometer error?

Technically true but still a funny take.

Congrats on your new bike and welcome to the forum and the R18. The R18 gets better the longer you own it.
